All six Liverpool City Region areas record Covid infections falls

All areas of the Liverpool City Region have recorded another fall in positive Covid tests.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, the area of the city region to have recorded the biggest week-on-week percentage change figure drop was Liverpool.

Liverpool recorded 493 cases in the week ending May 5. That's 133 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. It meant that the week-on-week percentage change figure in Liverpool went down by 21%.

The falls in the other five areas were: 4% in Knowsley; 5% in Halton; 17% in St Helens; 7% in Sefton; and, 16% in Wirral.

Warrington, West Lancs, and Cheshire West and Chester, all logged drops in positive tests in the week ending May 5.

In England overall, there was a week-on-week percentage change figure fall of 21%.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 493 cases in the week ending May 5, which is 133 fewer cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure went down by 21%. The latest infection rate was 98.5 cases per 100,000 people.

Wirral

Wirral's positive tests came to 394 cases in the week ending May 5, which is 74 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure went down by 16%. The latest infection rate was 121.5 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 161 positive tests over the last week - that's nine fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change figure went down by 5% in Halton in the week ending May 5. The latest infection rate is 124.1 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There was a total of 195 cases in the week ending May 5, which is 40 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in St Helens is 107.7 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure went down by 17%.

Knowsley

There was a total of 212 cases in the week ending May 5, which is eight fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 139.1 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure went down by 4%.

Sefton

Sefton had a total of 401 cases in the week ending May 5, which is a 28 fewer cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate is 145.3 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases went down by 7% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 1,856 positive tests over in the week ending May 5, which is 292 fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change went down by 14%. The latest infection rate is 109.00 cases per 100,000 people.

Warrington

There were 269 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending May 5, which is 63 fewer cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure went down by 19%. There was an infection rate of 128.46 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 492 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending May 5, which is 69 fewer cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate is 143.10 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage went down by 12% in cases.

West Lancs

There were 116 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending May 5, which is 39 fewer cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate in West Lancs is 101.31 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage went down by 25% in cases.

England

In the week ending May 5, England recorded 62,002 coronavirus cases, which is 16,700 fewer cases than in the previous seven days. The week-on-week percentage went down by 21% in England. There was an infection rate of 109.64 per 100,000 people.
