More than 40,000 M&S staff are getting a pay rise this April, and all workers will earn at least £10 an hour.
The supermarket chain said base rates of pay for 40,000 staff will go up from £9.50 to £10 an hour.
The exception is London, where salaries are rising from £10.75 to £11.25 due to the higher cost of living.
The government's national living wage is currently £8.91, though this is going up to £9.50 from April this year.
The real living wage is £9.90 an hour or £11.05 in London.
However inflation is currently 5.5% , eroding the value of the pay increase.
M&S chief executive Steve Rowe said : “The contribution our teams have made to support our customers and each other every day through some really challenging times has been remarkable.
"By once again increasing our investment into one of the best all round reward offers for store colleagues across retail, we’re making sure that every colleague whatever they do and wherever they work, is properly rewarded and supported at M&S.”

M&S is also improving its staff benefits packages. This includes access to financial advice, a virtual GP service and a health check screening.
Staff will continue to get a 20% discount on M&S food, clothing and homewares.
In January supermarket giant Sainsbury’s unveiled a similar pay rise for thousands of its staff .
Sainsbury's said that all its Sainsbury’s and Argos workers would get a basic hourly pay rate hike from £9.50 an hour to at least £10, across the country.
This rate will increase to £11.05 from £10.10 for workers in inner London and to £10.50 from £9.75 in outer London.
Delivery drivers will get a pay rise to £11.50 per hour from March 6.
The supermarket chain is giving the rise to around 150,000 staff.
Last week The Mirror reported that Asda has been accused of “below industry pay” for supermarket staff in the middle of the cost of living crisis.
Union group GMB claim a number of staff who work for the Big Four grocer have been “forced to use payday lenders and foodbanks” due to price rises.
The claims come as Asda confirmed it will increase hourly rates from £9.36 per hour to £9.66 per hour from April 1 - a jump of 3.25%.
In comparison, inflation rates have soared to 5.4% - its highest level in 30 years as the cost of living crisis continues to push up prices.
Asda says its London workers will see their pay jump to £10.83.
The supermarket added that wages for staff outside London will go up to £10.06 in April 2023, which would mark a further 4.1% increase.
GMB argues that most other supermarkets already pay their workers more than £10 an hour, even outside of the capital.
The union group the “below industry” pay increases for this year will affect 150,000 workers but Asda claims the hourly rate applies to 123,000 staff.
