Both of the candidates running in the Nov. 5, 2024, general election for Las Vegas Township Justice Court Department 8 — Nancy Bernstein (nonpartisan) and Amy Ferreira (nonpartisan) — completed Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey. These survey responses allow voters to hear directly from candidates about what motivates them to run for office.
Here are the candidates’ responses to the question: What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Bernstein:
- “Safety in Our Community. I am dedicated to ensuring the safety of our community. As a single mom, I have raised 3 children, the oldest of which is also an attorney. I want all families to feel safe in our streets.
- Upholding our Laws. I believe in America’s legal system and will follow the letter of the law. I believe in fair treatment and the ability to obtain justice.
- Compassionate. I have a great ability to connect with people to understand their needs, effectively address issues and making the court more effective.”
Ferreira:
- “I am focused on community safety. I want Las Vegas to remain a safe and beautiful place for us to raise our families.
- I believe the courts should work for the people that they serve, not against them. So often I hear community members express negative opinions of the judicial system and I hope to play a small part in changing that perception.
- My qualifications are unmatched. I have been serving as a judicial officer for 4 years. I have a strong legal knowledge, proper judicial temperament, and above all an unwavering dedication to justice.”
