Alistair Johnston delivers hilarious Ross County goal admission

Celtic triumphed 2-1 over Ross County in dramatic fashion today (Sunday), having scored both goals in the final stretch of the match after going 1-0 down before half-time.

Ronan Hale put his side in front from the spot at second asking – Kasper Schmeichel saved the County player's first attempt, however was correctly deemed to have advanced from his line.

Hale made no mistake with the second attempt, and it took until the 75th minute for Celtic to equalise via Alistair Johnston - who deflected the ball into the net with his hip - before Nicolas Kuhn fired the visitors ahead with three minutes of normal time remaining.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, goalscorer Johnston said: "I was honestly just trying to get out of the way!

"For about a season and a half I've been back for corners. Cal just whacked one and I couldn't get out of the way!

"Thankfully it hit me and it went in. He told me afterwards he thought it was going wide, but I don't know if he was just trying to be nice about that.

"It's a nice feeling, and it kick-started the comeback for us. I had no clue what minute it was in. It was massive to get the boys going, it's not an easy place to come to and we're just really happy with that."

Johnston hailed his teammate Kuhn for his vision and ability to score the decisive match-winning goal - the midfielder's sixth so far -  and said it felt like it was coming in that moment, given Celtic's dominance.

"To be fair I think we were knocking the whole second half. I think the subs made a big difference when they came on. It's been a difficult week, three matches all away. It's not easy.

"But at the same time it doesn't matter where you go, you're expected to win. I'm proud of the guys who came on, they showed their level, they showed we have the best squad in this division."
