Alison Hammond vows to remain on This Morning until she has 'walking stick'

Alison Hammond has promised she will "never leave" This Morning and plans to present the show until she has "a walking stick and grey hair".

The beloved presenter has recently secured a new job hosting the Great British Bake Off alongside Noel Fielding after Matt Lucas stepped down from the Channel 4 show.

However, she has insisted her new role won't interfere with her This Morning duty and it seems as though she is living her dream on the ITV chat show.

"I'm not leaving any time soon. I love This Morning. I'll never leave. I'll be there until I've got a walking stick and grey hair," Alison said.

Speaking about her new project, she added: "The great thing about Bake Off is they film it at the weekends, so it won't change what I do at This Morning. I am still going to be doing it every Friday."

Alison, who was first hired on This Morning back in 2002 as one of the show's roving reporters, also said she has loved every minute of her time on the programme.

"I've had the best 20 years. Every day has been the best. Thank you to all the viewers watching. All I ever want to do is make you guys happy," she told the Daily Star on Sunday.

Alison will soon be appearing on Bake Off and she recently opened up about her "weird audition".

The 48-year-old was asked to interview members of the public in a garden centre to show off her people skills.

She told The Sun: "They made me interview random strangers, to obviously see if I’m good with different people. It was a weird audition."

The former Strictly star also said she had to keep her new role secret for three weeks, but did tell her son Aiden, 18.

Confirming her new role on Twitter, Alison wrote: "It's Official!! It's happening The Great British Bake off! let's have it – The cake that is so excited @BritishBakeOff."

Alison's career was launched in 2002 when she became the second housemate to be evicted from the third series of Big Brother.

Over the past 20 years she has also appeared as a contestant on several other shows including Celebrity MasterChef, I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here and Strictly Come Dancing.
