Alison Hammond took a brief pause during her latest appearance on This Morning as she gave a shout-out to her young family member who is currently in hospital. The presenter was back at the helm of the ITV daytime show on Friday (March 10) when she revealed that her niece was currently being looked after by NHS staff.
Alison was back on the famous sofa alongside co-host Dermot O'Leary where they kicked off the show by being joined by Carol Vorderman in the studio and Nick Ferrari for the latest 'This Morning's View' segment in which they discuss the latest news headlines and chat about some of the lighter tales catching peoples attention.
But as they were discussing a report which suggests lack of trust in the NHS is being reported by one in three members of staff, Alison praised the health service for their care of her niece, Jasmine. "I have to say, I have to caveat this, my little niece is in hospital at the moment," the 48-year-old said.

"She is doing really well, by the way. I have been going back and forward. I definitely need to say that the NHS staff.... they have been absolutely amazing." Dermot replied: "Extraordinary aren't they?" before Alison continued: "She has been treated absolutely amazingly."
She then decided to surprise Jasmine with a shout-out on the telly as she turned to look straight into the camera and said: "Hi Jasmine."
Alison has previously shared how she rushed to the hospital when her niece, the daughter of Alison's sister Saundra, was left fighting for her life after collapsing at school. She was placed on life support after having a heart attack, with Alison saying to the Mirror in 2012: "She was the sickest girl in the UK at that point, so she went straight to the top of the list to get a new heart."
Jasmine was also diagnosed with Kawasaki disease when she was three years old and Alison has also previously shown her support for organ donation. She said at the time that she and her family were incredibly grateful to have received the donation after Jasmine received a transplant at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
"I have put myself on the organ donor list, as have my family," she told the publication. "I know it’s difficult for relatives to feel giving and kind when their loved ones die, but I have seen first-hand how organ donation can save and transform lives. The alternative, not having had this happen, doesn’t bear thinking about. We’re so lucky to have Jasmine still with us."
