Alison Hammond makes Holly Willoughby announcement seconds before end of ITV This Morning

Alison Hammond slipped in an announcement about Holly Willoughby as the final This Morning episode of the week aired. The presenter and her co-host Dermot O'Leary were back fronting the ITV daytime show on Friday.

It was another jam-packed show for the pair who haven't been seen on screen in a couple of weeks after filling in for Holly and Phillip Schofield during the first week of the recent Easter half-term break.

But a question mark was still hanging over Holly's return to the programme after she was forced to take an additional week off work. The 42-year-old was due back at the helm of This Morning on Monday (April 17) was hit by a setback after she fell ill.

Mum-of-three Holly confirmed in an Instagram post that she had shingles and there for would be off recovering at home. After her announcement, This Morning confirmed that Rochelle Humes would be stepping in to her presenting shoes and the former singer made her hosting return to the show for the first time in months alongside Phillip.

After a period of silence on social media, Holly returned on Friday morning (April 21) and shared how she had been sent the 'sweetest delivery' from her fellow This Morning star Dermot O'Leary. She posted a picture to her Instagram Story showing an unwrapped deli sandwich which had been sent over via a restaurant.

"Thank you @dermotoleary for the sweetest delivery of chicken soup and salt beef..." she wrote over the image. She added: "Just what I needed. Feeling so much better. Thank you for all your well wishes," alongside a red heart emoji.

And as Alison and Dermot wrapped up their latest stint on This Morning on Friday, Alison was quick to say as chaos ensued with Gino D'Acapo in the kitchen: "On Monday's show Holly is coming back so don't worry. She's going to be here on Monday."
