Alison Hammond joked on stage that she should have won the best presenter gong at the National Television Awards instead of Ant & Dec, who scooped the award this evening for the twenty-first time in a row.
The beloved presenter took to the stage along with her This Morning co-presenters, when the show won the award for best daytime show, despite the controversy over queue-gate.
Philip Schofield assured the audience they did not take the award for granted, while Holly spoke about the special connection the show has with its audience.
Phil then offered the mic to Alison in case she wanted to say some words, and she seized on the opportunity.
Wearing a dark red sparkling ballgown, Alison said: "Can I just say, we are so grateful for this award, honestly, I think This Morning is a mood and I ain't going to lie now, we all knew I should have won one of these as well.
"But you know what, Bradley Walsh, Graham Norton and the legends that are Ant & Dec are amazing.
"But let's be honest, I should have won it innit. But This Morning got one anyway, well done This Morning!"
Ant & Dec weren't able to collect their award in person as they both tested positive for Covid, but Stephen Mulhern was on hard to pick up the trophy.
It seemed that Alison wasn't the only person who thought she was robbed, as many viewers took to Twitter to share their admiration of the former Big Brother star.
One person wrote: "Catching up on the nta’s and Alison Hammond saying “let’s be honest I should of won one of these” couldnt be more true she an actual national treasure."
A second person said: "The applause for Alison Hammond at the #NTAs said everything… It’s about time someone else wins the award for presenter."
One person simply penned: " @AlisonHammond hilarious and yes you should have won #NTAs."
Another asked: "When’s the alison hammond award of excellence please? #NTAs "
A fifth person wrote: "Alison Hammond is a national treasure and was absolutely robbed of Best Presenter at #NTAs."
As the This Morning gang headed up to fetch their award, viewers thought the Loose Women cast looked less than impressed with the decision.
Both shows were up for the daytime award, which This Morning won last year.
One viewer wrote on Twitter : "Anyone else see the loose women nod there head with the eye roll when holly n Phil won."
Another said: "Seeing @loosewomen ‘s Linda Robsons face & reaction when they announced @thismorning as the #NTA winner was so so funny... ahahaha."
A third viewer wrote: "Take it the voting was before queue gate! Loose Women looked fuming."
A fourth person said: "The @loosewomen clearly not happy about @thismorning picking the #Daytime #NTA #NTAAwards."
A fifth penned: "Well the #LooseWomen didnt look bitter at all #NTAAwards."
One person wrote: "Loose Women being a bit shady there at the This Morning win #NTAAwards."
