Alice Beer divides ITV This Morning viewers again as she's slammed for 'cheap' comment amid 'horrid' segment

Alice Beer was back on the latest edition of This Morning and this time it was all about air fryers. The consumer journalist joined hosts of the ITV daytime show Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary to share the best air fryer hacks and share a few different models still on the market as people rush to buy them amid the cost of living crisis.

People have been relying on the kitchen gadgets as energy bills rise and so Alice talked Alison, Dermot and viewers through a selection of different brands of air fryers. She showed how they are quicker to use in comparison to conventional ovens and costs less in terms of energy consumption.

During the segment, Alice demonstrated how you can make soft-boiled eggs by simply popping eggs in the drawer and cooking for nine minutes. But some weren't impressed by the tip. @Boppity_Boo34 tweeted: "Those eggs look horrid #ThisMorning."

@hazel1973 said: "#thismorning 9 mins to cook an egg in an air fryer?! The same in a pan of water is 4. Ffs." @susie_retro posted: "#ThisMorning While you lot are trying to show us how to cook an egg in 9 mins, I've just done mine in my electric pressure cooker in 2 minutes."

Alice also showed some "roast" potatoes, chickpeas, and homemade crisps that had been cooked in the air fryer and Dermot appeared to be impressed as he discovered the potatoes had originally come out of a tin. Alice said: "You're staring at that like you've never seen a tin before". To which Dermot replied: "I just... I buy potatoes, I've never bought them in a tin".

But while some weren't so thrilled were the hacks, other This Morning viewers were left unimpressed by the price of the air fryers on display. @Boppity_Boo34 wrote: "Don’t think we will be paying over £100 for an air fryer to do roast potatoes and chick peas in #ThisMorning."

@JoeMartinDavid tweeted: "£109 for a 3L Air Fryer? That's not cheap for that size #ThisMorning." @Mabel_Mouse_ complained: "'Please don’t buy a cheap one' How are people supposed to save up £240, this side of Christmas, while also paying all their other bills? Tone deaf #ThisMorning." @FlopsyPickle added: "Yeah because we can afford £240 on an air fryer #ThisMorning."

Last week, viewers weren't very convinced by the show's money-saving tips. Days after the ITV daytime show came under fire for Alice Beer's boiler tips to cut costs this winter, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield welcomed family cooking expert Suzanne Mulholland onto the show.

Suzanne, aka 'The Batch Lady', appeared on Wednesday's show (October 12) and shared with viewers some of the surprising foods you can freeze as well as her top tips for freezing them safely. The segment was inspired after it was revealed the average UK household wastes £700 worth of food per year, the equivalent of eight meals per week - however, according to Suzanne "there's very few things you can't freeze" to extend the life of and prevent waste.

Suzanne told viewers and left the show's hosts amazed as she revealed that you can freeze "nearly everything," before showing off a number of food items that can be safely frozen including milk, cheese, pancakes, French toast and "any fruit". But there was one suggestion that didn't sit well with viewers. "Sandwiches freeze great," Suzanne said.

"If you are a busy working parent and you've got to get out the door quick in the morning, you've got three children, you can make up your sandwiches and freeze them. And they work brilliantly if you're on a budget and you're looking to get your bread or your bagels to last the whole week." Suzanne's suggestion to freeze sandwiches, however, was met with disgust from This Morning viewers as they flocked to social media to comment.
