Alfredo Morelos Rangers spell 'over' says Kris Boyd as he slams 'nowhere near fit enough' striker

Kris Boyd has made it clear to Alfredo Morelos that his time at Rangers is over as he is 'nowhere near' the fitness levels Michael Beale requires.

Morelos has been brought back in from the cold by Beale this season after injury and fitness concerns surrounded the attacker's first half of the season under Gio Van Bronckhorst The Colombian did net two goals recently in a temporary form upturn before putting in an Old Firm derby display that saw missed chances and calls for the forward's condition to improve.

The striker's fitness has come under the microscope in recent months, and now former Ibrox hitman Boyd believes he is 'nowhere near fit enough' to play the style that new boss Beale wants to adopt and that his head might be set on a move away from Rangers.

Boyd insists that he has been a top servant in Glasgow but that the 26-year-old is no longer bringing anything to the set-up at Ibrox. Speaking to Sky Sports News, he said: "You mentioned Alfredo Morelos. There is no doubt for me that his time is up at Rangers.

"In the past few weeks Morelos has played due to a lack of options for Rangers. Obviously with Roofe and Colak being injured. He is not the same player that he was for whatever reason. He might have his eyes on a move elsewhere. But at the same time it seems to be the case every single transfer window. It has not materialised. Looking at it now, the way Michael Beale wants to play, Alfredo Morelos is nowhere near fit enough to trigger that press.

"We are not saying anything here that he hasn't done in the past. It is not as if you are turning round and saying he is not someone who will run 100m in nine or ten seconds. Alfredo Morelos has occupied back fours not only in Scotland but in Europe. I have said it before he is a fantastic footballer when he is on it.

"He is a handful, he can score goals, he has scored over 100 goals for Rangers. But at this moment in time you just feel that his time is up. He is not bringing anywhere near what he should be to a Rangers team."
