Mexican side Tigres have reportedly made a final bid for Eintracht Frankfurt star Rafael Santos Borre before turning to Rangers star Alfredo Morelos as a January option.
The Colombian has enjoyed a second chance at Ibrox following the arrival of Michael Beale at Ibrox having featured in every game since the Londoner stepped into the hot seat to replace Gio van Bronckhorst, as he fills in for Antonio Colak while the Croat has dealt with injury issues. However, the 26-year-old has netted just five goals so far this season and is out of contract at the end of the current campaign, meaning the Light Blue's board could be forced to cash-in on the frontman this month.
Ambitious Tigres are considering a move for the frontman with boss Diego Cocca adding Morelos to a January shortlist should the club fail to land Borre from the Bundesliga this month. Frankfurt chief executive Markus Krosche had ruled out an exit, speaking to Sky Sports Germany.
He claimed: "I think he (Borre) feels comfortable with us. He is a very important player for us who will have his playing time.
"I don't want to give Rafael Borre away! We don't want to give up Rafael Borre, we want to keep the team together."
However, El Porvenir claim Tigres have raised their offer from £8million to £9.7million in a last ditch bid to convince the Europa League holders to part with the 27-year-old. They note that River Plate are also considering a move for Borre.
It is claimed that if this bid fails the Mexican side will move on to a bid for the Rangers star. Boca Juniors forward Mateo Retegui is the third name on Cocca's wishlist.
