Alfa Semedo in Celtic transfer link as Premiership champions at 'forefront' of signing pursuit

Midfielder Alfa Semedo is reportedly on Celtic's signing radar ahead of their return to the Champions League.

Portuguese media outlet A Bola claim the Premiership champions are at the "forefront" in a bid to secure the Guinea-Bissau international this summer.

Semedo can play multiple roles across midfield and the interest comes amid Celtic's search for reinforcements in the engine room.

Ange Postecoglou is understood to be keen in Lommel star Vinicius Souza but Ajax and PSV have also been linked with the Brazilian.

Semedo spent last season on loan at Reading from Vitoria Guimares, and previously turned out for Nottingham Forest and Benfica.

The 24-year-old has been capped 12 times for his country since making his debut last year.

Celtic have already secured Cameron Carter Vickers this summer and are striving to tie fellow loan star Jota down on a permanent deal.

Former Dundee United keeper Benjamin Siegrist and Lanus left-back Alexandro Bernabei have also been targeted with both deals in the works.

But reported interest in 6ft 2in Semedo will intrigue fans who are awaiting new arrivals ahead of a return to European football's top table.
