Lanus have knocked back Celtic' s opening bid for Alexandro Bernabei, according to reports.
The 21-year-old has been on the the radar of Hoops scouts for some time and a deal appears to be moving closer.
Bernabei made 24 appearances and provided two assists for Lanus in the Primera Division this season, but was a notable absentee from the weekend's fixtures.
He missed Lanus' 1-1 draw with Defensa y Justicia on Friday with speculation ramping up over his next step.
However, Argentinian outlet TyC Sports indicate that the club have knocked back the initial bid from the Premiership champions.
The club are reportedly willing to sell the full-back if they "improve the proposal".
Ange Postecoglou looks to have made bolstering his left-back options a key target this summer.
Bernabei would provide competition for Greg Taylor with Boli Bolingoli well out of the first-team plans at Parkhead.
Liam Scales also does not appear to be under consideration with Jim Goodwin keen on bringing him to Aberdeen.
