Republican leader Mitch McConnell‘s health has been a hot topic of debate in Washington for weeks. The 84-year-old is serving out the final months of his term, but has been absent from work since mid-June for unclear reasons. Now Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has said that if McConnell can’t do his job, he must resign.
McConnell’s team has so far shared minimal updates on his condition, simply saying that he’s recovering in a rehabilitation facility and plans to return to the Senate floor. Photographs have been released of McConnell holding a recent newspaper in a bid to prove he’s at least alive, but Ocasio-Cortez says this isn’t good enough.
