Alexander Isak says that Newcastle United players were eager to deliver "a statement" after their 3-0 defeat against Aston Villa.
United stars had stayed cool and composed in the week building up to the home clash with Tottenham Hotspur. And rather than let emotions get the better of them after their worst display of the season at Villa, they went into the next game and arguably served up their best.

Isak told Chronicle Live: "It was kind of a statement after last week at Villa. To come back and give a performance like this shows a lot.
"It was incredible. From the first minute we showed that we really wanted this - it paid off. It was 3-0 after nine minutes, that's incredible too."
When asked to explain Newcastle's success on the day, the Sweden international reflected: "Most things went right and we scored our chances, we were solid defensively too. We're very happy with it overall."
Before the game fans whipped up a raucous atmosphere and Spurs players looked visibly shaken as Newcastle swept into that 3-0 lead. Isak added: "They give us so much energy. We kept pushing forward and it's really nice to see them fired up.
"Of course (the fans helped get us to top four). We're all in it together, they're the extra man for us. Playing at home for us is a big thing."
