Alex Lowry serves Rangers reminder to Michael Beale as starlet makes first-team return case with hat-trick

Rangers prospect Alex Lowry will hope boss Michael Beale was watching his Lowland League showing as he netted a hat-trick against Civil Service Strollers.

The talented midfielder has been hampered by by injury this season after he was stretchered off after a horror challenge in Challenge Cup clash with Dumbarton back in August, but has since returned to full fitness and has been a regular for the B team side in the fifth tier of Scottish football. Following Beale's arrival from Queens Park Rangers he was thrown back into the first-team picture and was snapped at Auchenhowie during the Londoner's early sessions at the helm.

Since then he has gone on to make just one appearance for the first-team, when he was handed a surprise start during the 3-0 win over Motherwell. The 19-year-old was replaced after 66 minutes and is now back with the Colt team having failed to make the bench against Celtic or Dundee United.

The teenager looked like he had a point to prove against the minnows as he netted a hat-trick to move Rangers closer to the top of the Lowland League. The Ibrox youngsters sit just a point behind Spartans, who have played a game more.

An individual effort from Lowry opened the scoring before he netted his second with a lovely finish against the Strollers to give his side a 2-0 lead at the break. Euan Valentine pulled one back for the visitors before the playmaker secured his hat-trick with just a minute left on the clock.

Beale has revitalised the likes of Malik Tillman since returning to the Scottish Premiership, and will welcome back Ianis Hagi in the near future. Lowry will be keen to back among the midfield options before the January recruits arrive with the likes of Todd Cantwell touted with a move.
