Years ago, satirical publication The Onion unveiled plans to take over Alex Jones‘ bonkers and hateful conspiracy website, which currently faces liquidation after families of the victims of the Sandy Hook school shooting in 2012 won a court case worth hundreds of millions of dollars against Jones.
He had said the shooting had been faked, calling it “a giant hoax” and that the families of the dead were “actors”. The bereaved families promptly sued him for defamation and won, causing him to declare bankruptcy.
