Alex Jones confirms break from BBC's The One Show as replacement announced

Welsh presenter Alex Jones, who is a regular host on BBC's The One Show, has announced she is taking a break from the programme. The host announced she was having a week off and confirmed who her replacement would be during the episode that aired on Friday, March 31.

Bidding farewell to BBC One and BBC iPlayer viewers at the end of the show, Alex said: "Jermaine (Jenas) and Emma (Willis) will be here on Monday, I'll see you the week after". Her co-host Ronan then wished Alex a "good week off" as they waved goodbye to the cameras.

Alex's break coincides with many schools' Easter holidays, with other television hosts including This Morning's Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield taking some time off. Earlier today Holly shared a rare snap of her kids in the ITV studio as she told her 8.2 million followers: "Favourite interview of the week… the kids popped into @thismorning as they have broken up from school, Soooo lovely having them there.

"They have grown so much since the last time they were here… so that’s me for two weeks… I’m off to be with them and see if I can break the record for the most chocolate eggs consumed in 24 hours… wish me luck! You can read more on this here.

Alex who shares three children, Teddy, Kit and Annie, with her husband Charlie Thompson regularly enjoys holidays in Wales with her downtime. Recently the presenter, who hails from Ammanford, took the kids "back to where it all started" and enjoyed a trip to Cardiff, particularly Cardiff Castle where Alex and Charlie married in 2015.

Alex and Charlie, who first met at a party in 2011, tied the knot at the iconic Welsh landmark on New Year's Eve. Alex revisited the castle, which is also open to the public, last month. Posting a photo of the family of five smiling at the camera, Alex said: "We took them back to where it all started" followed by a red love heart emoji.

Alex and her family also recently visited St Fagans National Museum of History. Alex revealed she also loved frequenting the museum as a child. She wrote: "It might have been a cloudy old day but today I took the children to somewhere I loved going as a child and we had a great time. If you haven't been…go!!! So much to see. Such a unique experience! @museumwales."
