Jermaine Jenas called out The One Show's host Alex Jones for her cheeky interviewing tactics during Tuesday's show.
During the latest instalment of the BBC One series, the mother-of-three grilled Celebrity Masterchef contestant Nancy Dell’Olio on her cooking skills and appeared to make a dig about her abilities.
The Welsh presenter asked: "You've got Italian roots so I'm thinking you're going to channel a bit of Nigella kind of cooking, you're going to be fantastic. Am I right?"
Playing her cards close to her chest, Nancy, 60, responded: "Well you'll have to watch and see."
Digging herself a hole, Alex, 45, pressed: "Are you a good at cooking though Nancy, I imagine you get a lot of takeaway?"
After noticing how her comment came across, she added: "I mean, I don't know but I'm imagining."
Confused by what Alex was getting at, the former WAG said: "Well I guess that comes with imagination being Italian and from the south but then I spend a lot of time between America and London, so let's say it's not the best room in the house.
"For me, it's not on the top of my list my cooking," she added.
Calling Alex out, football pundit Jermaine told her: "Only you could get away with that you know."
The audience, who watched as the tense scene played out, burst out with laughter.
Repeating the star's question, he said: "I'm guessing you get a lot of take-away. Any way no one else is getting away with that."
Defending herself, Alex argued: "We were all thinking it and somebody needs to say it."
Nancy, who was being interviewed via video link was unsure what was going on in the studio and asked: "Did I say something wrong?"

Reassuring her, Jermaine said: "No, no, you were spot on. Just typical Jonesy."
Nancy will be battling it out in the Celebrity MasterChef kitchen this August alongside the likes of Chris Eubank and Danny Jones.
The TV presenter opened up to fans recently on Instagram, explaining that things had been "a bit tricky recently" for her.
Sharing a photo of a lemon, she added the caption: "Things have been a bit tricky for us recently and in all honesty, I haven’t had time to be on here between working and the children but I randomly logged on and saw all your lovely messages gently asking if we were all ok.
