Alex Honnold says he was paid an ‘embarrassing amount’ for Taipei 101 climb

Alex Honnold says he would have climbed Taipei 101 — the world’s 11th-tallest skyscraper — for free. But because the free-solo ascent was performed live for a global audience, the climber has admitted his fee is an “embarrassing amount” of money.

Netflix’s Skyscraper Live saw the professional rock climber make history as he scaled the 1,667ft, 101-story structure, located in the capital of Taiwan, without safety gear or ropes.
