Alex George says his heart aches as he remembers late brother Llŷr in Christmas tribute

Dr Alex George has paid tribute to his late brother Llŷr George on Christmas Day.

The Love Island star, 31, shared a photo of an empty place setting at his family's table to remember his brother, who was just 19 when he died in 2020.

As Dr Alex shared the photo on his Instagram, he opened up on his grief over the festive period in the caption.

Alex began his caption with: "The empty chair.

"Your laugh and your smile. Your eye roll at Dad’s awful Dad jokes.

"The arguments over who has had the most pigs in blankets. Your love and your presence."

Dr Alex continued: "Today, our hearts ache. Because you are not not here.

"The empty seat will never be filled at the Christmas table.

"But you will never be forgotten and your love will always fill our hearts.

"You have shaped our lives forever and we remember the Christmas days gone by with joy and love. With fond memories and a gratitude that you graced the family table."

Dr Alex then shared a message to his followers who will be without a loved one over Christmas.

"If you are reading this, and your family isn’t complete this Christmas," he said. "Remember that you are better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.

"You are not alone, we send love from my family to yours".

Some of Dr Alex's followers shared supportive messages in the comments.

"Thinking of you and your family!," one wrote.

"The kindest and most caring soul. I was so proud of you starting medical school next month, you would have been the most incredible doctor."
