Alex ‘Cowboy’ Oliveira parts ways with the UFC after 22 appearances

Alex Oliveira’s UFC run is done for the time being after completing the final fight on his contract.

Oliveira (22-12-1), who fought 22 times with the promotion an amassed a 11-10 record with on no contest dating back to his octagon debut in March 2015, was informed by UFC brass that he would not be offered a new deal.

MMA Junkie verified the news with a person close to the situation, who requested anonymity.

Oliveira, 34, suffered four consecutive losses to end his UFC tenure, albeit to notable competition in Kevin Holland, Niko Price, Randy Brown and Shavkat Rakhmonov.

The Brazilian defeated notables such as former interim UFC champ Carlos Condit, former Bellator champ Will Brooks, Tim Means, Max Griffin and other under the UFC banner.

Oliveira’s fight with Yancey Medeiros at UFC 218 in December 2017, which he lost by second-round TKO, was the first bout in UFC history to feature two knockdowns for each fighter.

Sources informed MMA Junkie that Oliveira intends to find a new fighting home in short order with the desire to return to competition this year.
