Alex Beresford wins All Star Musicals, but some viewers are still angry with him after Piers Morgan clash

Bristol's very own Alex Beresford was crowned the winner of ITV's All Star Musicals last night (Sunday, April 3), beating the rest of the star contestants. The Good Morning Britain weather presenter rapped 'My Shot' from the hit musical 'Hamilton', a play about the life of founding father Alexander Hamilton.

Alex, who is from Eastville, overcame competition from a number of other famous faces. Eastenders' Jacqueline Jossa, James Bond actor Colin Salmon, wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan, Coronation Street's Lisa George, and rugby star Danny Care also appeared on All Star Musicals, but, ultimately, did not come out on top.

The 41-year-old appeared on Good Morning Britain this morning to discuss his win on the show after celebrating with family last night. And although he may have appeared to ooze confidence on stage, inside, Alex was a bag of nerves.

Presenter Richard Madeley said to Alex: "I think one of the many reasons you won it is confidence. You left any nerves behind, any self-consciousness and just went for it."

"Do you know what?" Alex replied, "I was so scared of doing that song because it is one of the big songs from Alexander Hamilton. And there's so many words and I'm not a rapper.

"And when they first spoke to me about maybe doing this song, it frightened the life out of me because I knew I had to do it justice. Also, the song was called My Shot, and you know you can't throw away your shot, like there's only one way to do it and that was kind of like hit it hard.

He added: "But when I got to the stage door I forgot all the words. [There were] No cue cards, nothing and I started merging verse one with verse two and I was like, 'Oh no! Why is this happening now!'. And then as I got on stage it all came back. And I just thought, you know, 'don't hold back'."

Alex's big win was met by plenty of positive reaction online, but a lot of viewers appeared to still be angry with him after last March's incident. Following Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan and Alex had a heated debate live on the show about racism, with Alex sharing his own experiences, which led to Piers storming off set.

Craig Ollerton wrote: "I had #alexberesford in last position, thought he was tosh compared to the other contestants. Can’t help but think that #piersmorgan incident is the reason why he won?"

Steve Tweeted Piers Morgan himself, saying: "@piersmorgan Alex Beresford winner ofAll Star Musicals. WHAT A JOKE! strange he performed a rap song of an uprising!"

Caro Diamond also wanted a reply from Piers: "@piersmorgan what's your opinion on Alex Beresford winning All Star Musicals…..was an insult to my ears!!"

These are just some of the negative Tweets left about Alex, but there were a lot of supportive viewers who praised his ability and celebrated his success. Angela Thurlow said: "Wow brilliant version of Not throwing away my shot. Well done Alex Beresford #AllStarMusicals"

Sally Price said: "Alex Beresford, well-deserved winner, beautiful man Xxxxx"

Mrs Blinkle wrote: "@alexberesfordTV I would pay to see Alex star in a West End Production. Alex you were electrifying. What a connection to the part, the story, the values. The most talented weather person ever! Underused!!! #AllStarMusicals"

Jacqui Stewart praised Alex: "Well done Alex you smashed that song out the park."
