Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone surely enjoyed Detroit's 20–6 victory over the Buccaneers in Week 6. But the seven-year pro had much more to be happy about than winning a football game on Sunday. He got to share the moment with his parents, whose safety he was worried about throughout the week.
Anzalone's parents were in Israel last week as part of a church tour group when attacks by terrorist group Hamas ignited war in the region. Sal and Judy Anzalone were among the 53 Americans trapped after the conflict erupted. But on Thursday, Anzalone informed fans that his parents were safe and returning to the United States.
Following the game, Anzalone told reporters, including the Detroit News's Nolan Bianchi, that he had dinner with his parents on Saturday night. Sal and Judy–who live in Naples, Fla.–also attended Sunday's game and were part of the huge presence of Lions fans that lingered in Raymond James Stadium.

"I mean, it's crazy. You think about it, they were in a hostile situation in a foreign country this time a week ago," Anzalona added. "Just to have them here home, it puts everything in perspective. It was just a good vibe going into the game. There was no way I was going to play a bad game today."
Anzalone led Detroit with nine tackles (seven solo) on Sunday, with one tackle for loss and two passes defended.
