Spanish side Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho in January.
The 20-year-old Argentine international has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford since the arrival of new manager Ruben Amorim.
Garnacho was left out of the Red Devils’ squad entirely as they beat rivals Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad on Sunday.
With the youngster’s future now uncertain, a number of clubs are said to be interested.
Amorim is believed to be willing to sanction Garnacho’s departure from United, with Atletico Madrid emerging as a possible destination.
Could Garnacho Return To Atletico Madrid?
Although regarded as a product of Manchester United’s academy, Garnacho actually came up through Atletico’s youth system before moving to United in 2021.
With long-time Atletico servant Antoine Griezmann possibly leaving, Diego Simeone is said to be keen on signing a young replacement with a high ceiling.
A return to the Spanish capital could see Garnacho link up with Giuliano Simeone and Julián Álvarez in a deadly-looking front three.
The youngster is still only 20, and has eight goals and four assists for United this season.
But despite his obvious talent and potential, he doesn’t seem to fit into Ruben Amorim’s tactical shape at Old Trafford.
As a result, the Red Devils boss seems keen to offload any players that don’t suit his style. Marcus Rashford is another potential wide player who could fall victim to United’s shape, with the England international stating he wants a new challenge.
For Garnacho, the opportunity to return to Madrid and play regular top-level football may be too good to pass up.
Atletico Title Challenge A Great Chance For Trophies
There could also be silverware attached to any January move this season.
Simeone’s Atletico Madrid are currently second in La Liga, level on 38 points with leaders Barcelona but behind on goal difference.
However, they have a game in hand over Barca, with the two sides meeting at Camp Nou on Sunday.
If Atletico win that and their game in hand, they will go six point clear of their opponents.
Rivals Real Madrid are one point below Atletico, having played the same number of games.
