Alec Baldwin is reportedly set to make his acting return by working on a project that is filming in the UK - months after the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
The 63-year-old actor was devastated last October when he fired a gun on the set of a film called Rust that was loaded with a live bullet.
The weapon was discharged on set of the production in New Mexico, killing Halyna at the age of 42 – and also injuring film director Joel Souza, 48.
Alec is reportedly playing a leading role in a new drama titled 97 Minutes about a hijacked plane that has just 97 minutes worth of fuel remaining before it will crash – with filming taking place in Hampshire this year.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Filming is top secret, but there is a lot of buzz that Alec is set to get back to work after Rust.
“Of course, safety on set is paramount and the crew is being kept to an absolute minimum so he can focus on his work.”
The report comes just hours after the Mail Online shared photos of Alec looking downcast at Heathrow airport after he touched down in the UK on Friday.
Alec had previously expressed concern that his career could be over following the fatal shooting on the set of Rust.
During an interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC News in the USA last December, he said: “Well, it could be,” when asked if his career was over.
The actor also said: “I couldn't give a s**t about my career anymore” as he discussed the incident.
He added: "I have dreams about this constantly now. I go through my day, and I make it through the day. Then I collapse at the end of the day. Emotionally, I collapse."
The Oscar nominated actor later explained again that he was haunted by the incident.
He said in a message to fans before Christmas: “I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all the people who sent me such kind words and best wishes and strength and hope and prayers, thoughts and lots of encouragement.
"I got hundreds, hundreds of emails from friends, family and colleagues and people I haven't heard from in quite a while to send me strength and good wishes and so forth. I'm really grateful to them."
The actor continued: "I'm looking forward to some aspects of this being behind me, of course. For everyone who is involved in this, it'll never be behind us because someone died so tragically."
"I never lose sight of that, not a day goes by I don't think about that."
