American actor Alec Baldwin and wife Hilaria have revealed they will be welcoming a baby daughter by posting a family video on Hilaria's Instagram to announce the sex of their seventh child. Their new arrival will mark the eighth time the 64-year-old actor will become a dad.
Together Alec and Hilaria share Carmen, 8, Rafael, 6, Leonardo, 5, Romeo, 3, Eduardo, 18 months, and María, 13 months. Alec also has another daughter, Ireland, 26, with his first wife Kim Basinger.
Hilaria announced her pregnancy last month, not long after she told her 959k Instagram followers she would be taking a break from social media. Her first post on March 4 wrote: “Hey friends! I’m gonna take a break, I promise I’ll be back. I love you all and know you worry, so want to give you a heads up. I might check in from time to time, dropping you a photo, and letting you know we are OK.”
The Baldwin family were then seen in a video posted by Hilaria to Instagram on March 29, sharing their exciting news. The caption started: "After many ups and downs over the past few years, we have an exciting p and a huge surprise: another Badwinito is coming this fall".
On May 9, Hilaria shared another video of the family, who were all seen handing out advice to the unborn baby, who they revealed is a girl. In the video Hilaria is seen saying: "‘Feel free to immerse in and express all parts of your identity without being shamed, limited or bullied. You don’t have to prove yourself to anyone." and Alec says: "One characteristic doesn't define you".
Alongside the video, the caption read: "It’s always been both fun and meaningful for me to find out what is the sex of my baby, yet, as I grow and learn, I want to do it a bit differently this time around. What will make our baby a loving, whole person? What matters? What will make them feel seen, free, and proud? Perhaps nothing that we can define. We can only guide, encourage their spirit, listen, share our experiences, and learn from them, as we watch their own journey.
"We can provide as good a life as we can, but the rest is up to our baby to discover their own, unique self. I share with you our family’s hopes and wishes, encouragement and advice for our new baby," she continued: "I feel so much joy, watching these children, who are filled with love and the most simple, kind wisdom. Hearing them share their words is one of my greatest gifts in life."
In April, Hilaria revealed to her followers that she knew the sex of her seventh child but wanted to keep it secret for a little while longer for a couple of reasons. The 38-year-old star has been open on her social media about suffering a miscarriage in April 2019.
She explained the reasoning on her Instagram story: “I lost a baby at four months in 2019 (maybe some of you remember). I think about her daily and understand that motherhood has its beauty and its darkness, but I will wait until I’m past the point when I lost my daughter.” She also added: “Many of you know how connected I am to the LGBTQIA+ community and I am talking with a few close confidants on how I can be thoughtful and inclusive on helping to curate a more gender inclusive world.
"Given all of the prejudice I’m seeing in this country right now, I need to pause and give it a good think and get some advice. It pains me so much to see that people are vilified and harassed and not included for simply being who they are. Peaceful, loving, beautiful humans. Be good to yourselves and so much love and good energy to you. I cherish our community”.
