Aldi worker shares three tips to keep price of shopping down

An Aldi employee has shared three tips for keeping food prices down.

The employee posted the advice on the popular Facebook page Aldi Shoppers UK and said that the supermarket throws away "so much" food that is left lying around the store and Aldi like every business is feeling the effects of the cost-of-living crisis.

While food and gas prices continue to rise the employee said that there are certain things that customers can do to help keep costs at Aldi down.

The first tip is to not leave the freezer door open when shopping in the store, the employee said that electric prices are "crazy" and keeping the freezer doors shut will help to reduce costs for the retailer. The second tip is to not place chilled food in the freezer in exchange for a frozen item.

The third is to not "dump" any meat or other chilled food around the shop, as it results in food waste. The post has over a thousand likes and 200 comments.

One person said: "Went to our local store the other day where a man dropped some garlic bread on the floor and kicked them to the side. My 6-year-old went and picked them up and put them back". Another person wrote: " I should work for Aldi, when I'm doing my shopping I spend my time shutting the freezer doors as people just walk off and leave them open".

One person commented: "Totally agree, if people decide they don’t want something at least put it back in a chilled/frozen area, not on the end of a till or tell the cashier so it can be put back. Prices are going up everywhere whether it’s food, clothing, or other goods."

A spokesperson for Aldi said: "We work hard to keep our operating costs down so that we can keep our prices low and protect our customers from inflationary pressures as much as we can. This is why shoppers will always find high-quality products at the lowest prices at Aldi.”
