Aldi submits plans for £4.6 million store at Broomhouse

Aldi has submitted plans for a new £4.6m store in the Broomhouse area of Glasgow.

The development could create up to 35 local jobs within the store, along with new employment during construction and within the supply chain.

The proposed new store at Boghall Road, would consist of a 1,666 sq m store with 95 parking bays, including four electric vehicle spaces.

The submission to Glasgow City Council follows the delivery of a consultation programme carried out by the discount retailer.

Aldi wrote to around 2,300 residents across Broomhouse to inform them about the proposals, with in-person consultations held on 17 August and 3 September at the Mailcoach Restaurant and Broomhouse Community Hall.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “Our engagement with the local community has shown there is strong demand for a discount food store in Broomhouse and the surrounding area, with 90% of respondents writing to confirm their support for our proposals.

“An Aldi store would greatly benefit the area, bringing significant investment along with 35 new jobs, whilst supporting other local businesses through our investment in the Scottish food and drink sector.”

If approved, it is anticipated that the new store will open by late 2025.
