Aldi shoppers fear popular item has been discontinued as it 'vanishes' from shelves

Aldi shoppers say they’ve been unable to get their hands on salad cream in stores for a number of weeks.

The supermarket usually stocks an own-brand salad cream from its Bramwells range, priced at 69p for a 520g bottle.

But customers say the tangy condiment has “vanished” from stores - leaving them wondering if it has been discontinued.

In some stores, the label for Bramwells salad cream has been removed from shelves - but Aldi claims it is only a temporary disruption affecting some shops.

Aldi occasionally stocks Heinz salad cream as part of a Specialbuys promotion, although this hasn’t been available either.

One customer told The Mirror: “It’s like the salad cream has completely vanished. I haven’t seen it in my local store in weeks. What’s going on?”

Customers have also taken to social media to probe Aldi on the disappearance.

One asked: “Aldi just wondering if you know when you'll have some salad cream back in store because in Grimsby you've not had any since you reopened your Grimsby store in September?”

Another said: “I can't seem to find Bramwell [sic] salad cream any longer, only mayonnaise. Has this been discontinued?”

A third commented: “Hello my favourite supermarket. Just wondering if it's just my local store that has ran out of your Bramwell [sic] salad cream or have you discontinued it?”

A fourth asked: "Has all your salad cream gone on holiday?"

It is unclear when Aldi first started experiencing issues with its Bramwells salad cream stock - but some complaints date back to August.

The supermarket told The Mirror that not all stores are being affected, although it wouldn't tell us how many were experiencing the shortage.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “We apologise to fans of our Bramwells Salad Cream if it’s been out of stock in some stores recently.

“We are working with our suppliers to restore supply to all our stores as soon as possible.”

Last month, Aldi shoppers took to Facebook to say they are finding it harder to get the items they need in their local supermarket.

Other shoppers noted that rival supermarkets also had fewer items on shelves - not just Aldi.
