Aldi shoppers have brought to light how quickly products can fall into and back out of favour over item dubbed "last year's Prime drink".
Prime, a sports drink created by Youtube stars KSI and Logan Paul, has dominated headlines in recent weeks and months after selling out in stores across the UK. Many parents have queued outside stores from dawn to get their hands on bottles for their children.
Aldi announced Prime would be sold in its supermarkets from December 29, as parts of its Specialbuy offering. Given the popularity of the hydration drink, the budget retailer was forced to put rules in place around how many bottles could be purchased at any time.

The drink was available in three flavours, Blue Raspberry, Lemon and Lime and Ice Pop, with customers only allowed to purchase one of each flavour, with the bottles costing £1.99 each.
As predicted, the drinks sold out quickly, with many shoppers missing out. The speed at which Prime flew off shelves has reminded some Aldi fans of a similar product last year.
In January 2022, various outlets reported shoppers went wild for Aldi's Sleep Tea, which continued to sell out in stores nationwide. The flower, camomile and apple flavoured herbal teabags, which were 89p at the time and now cost £1.05, received rave reviews from customers who swore it helped them sleep easily and soundly.
While they were extremely hard to find last year, shelves are now "bursting" with the boxes of teabags. Taking to a Facebook group for Aldi fans, one woman shared a photo of a huge supply of the product in her local store.
She said: "Is nobody buying sleepy tea this year? This time last year you had more chance of getting a sun tan". Other Aldi shoppers were quick to respond.
One woman said: "I have a cup every night, really helps me sleep", while a second said: "Last year's Prime drink [laughing emoji] shelves are bursting with it now".
A third said: "I drink it every day, it's very nice", and a fourth added: "I remember I could never get this, swear by it now".
