Aldi has unveiled its new Christmas advert, starring everyone's favourite carrot Kevin in a sketch inspired by one of the most iconic series of festive films.
The amusing advert begins with Kevin's wife Katie and children Chantenay, Jasper and Baby on a plane, ready to take off for a Christmas family trip to Paris, when Katie suddenly realises someone important is missing. The camera zooms in to the carrot's face as she screams "Kevin!" - a nod to the famous moment in Home Alone when Kevin's mum Kate, played by Catherine O'Hara, realises she has forgotten to bring her son on holiday with her.
Kevin the Carrot is then seen back at home all by himself watching the football - but when an intruder is spotted landing on the roof and peering through the letterbox, he quickly becomes embroiled in a series of adventures in an attempt to ward them off, much like his namesake played by Macaulay Culkin. Kevin swings from Christmas tree lights and hides behind a flaming Christmas pudding, before making a daring escape out of the window and ending up stuck in a snowman.

But the saga has a happy ending - it's then that the identity of the 'intruder' is finally revealed as Santa Claus himself, just as Kevin's family return home. Looking a little worse for wear, the bruised carrot embraces his family as the voiceover says: "Let's make Christmas amazing for everyone".
The advert encourages viewers to donate to Neighbourly, a giving platform that helps businesses make a positive impact in their communities by donating volunteer time, money and surplus products. Kevin's children are seen donating their pocket money to a Neighbourly stall at the start of the advert, in a sweet moment that encourages helping others over the festive period.
Kevin the Carrot has been on quite the journey since making his debut in Aldi's Christmas advert back in 2016. Dodging dinner forks and fighting off villains over the years, he was shown falling in love with Katie the Carrot and having three children - with the whole family being turned into a range of plush toys that have proven a huge hit with shoppers.
