Supermarket chain Aldi has followed in the footsteps of rivals Asda and Boots in changing the name of the 'feminine hygiene' aisles. The discount supermarket will also be naming the aisle as period products.
Asda changed its feminine hygiene signs for items such as tampons, towels and panty liners back in March, with Boots following in April. Aldi's move will likely also be welcomed by campaigners, as the word 'hygiene' implies that periods are unhygienic, adding to negative stigma that surrounds menstruating, Manchester Evening News reports.
The change is being introduced throughout all Aldi's store and its website has also been amended to reflect the change.
