Aldi is launching a mini air fryer that’s perfect for small kitchens

Aldi has long been famed for its beloved middle aisle wonders. There’s nothing quite like the unique experience of popping into the supermarket for milk and coming out with a treadmill, new beauty tools and a fancy kitchen gadget.

The latest addition to Aldi’s Specialbuys is aimed at those who don’t have room for a bulky appliance. The supermarket is launching a compact 1.9l mini air fryer, designed for everything from speedy snacks to easy, everyday meals. Priced at just £19.99, it’s a considerably smaller option than the family-sized air fryers that have become a staple in many kitchens.

Despite its compact size, the mini air fryer comes with a digital LED panel and a 60-minute digital timer, so it’s easy to keep an eye on your cooking. There’s also a detachable non-stick frying rack, which makes removing food and cleaning up afterwards a little easier.

It has an overheat protection function for added peace of mind, while its 1.9l cooking capacity makes it best suited to smaller portions, snacks and sides. It’s available in two colours, black and cream, so you can choose the option that best fits your kitchen.

Best air fryers

If you miss out on Aldi’s budget air fryers, kitchen appliances expert Rachael Penn has reviewed dozens of models for IndyBest in her guides to the best air fryers and the best dual air fryers – here are her top picks.

Ninja foodi max dual zone air fryer

Rating: 5/5

When Rachael put this premium air fryer to the test, she was left impressed, awarding it the top spot in her review of the best dual air fryers. “It’s easy to use, with intuitive controls, and it has six distinct modes with total manual control. This means that you can select the method, time and then adjust the temperature as you see fit,” said Rachael.

“It’s the perfect choice if you want a range of functions to replace your traditional oven, including bake, roast and air fry, plus it reaches seriously high temperatures. The foodi max goes up to a whopping 240C and the max crisp function will ensure golden, crispy food every time.”

Ninja crispi pro

Rating: 5/5

“I’ve cooked so many meals in the crispi pro that I’ve almost forgotten I have an oven,” said reviewer Rachael Penn. Giving this model the top spot in her guide to the best air fryers, Rachael said it “cooks brilliantly” and praised the air fryer’s overall design.

“The Ninja crispi pro is a unique looking machine thanks to a modular design, with glass bowls that act as the main drawer for the food. These come in two sizes: 5.7l and 2.3l. As well as being able to see how your food is cooking through the glass bowls, you can also put them in the fridge or freezer if you want to store leftovers.”
