Aldi fans say Girl Scouts need to ‘up their game’ after tasting retailer’s $3 dupe

  • Aldi fans have shared their shock over the retailer’s $3 dupe for Girl Scouts’ iconic Samoas.
  • They compared Aldi's Benton’s Caramel Coconut Fudge Cookies to the Samoas, along with other versions of various Girl Scout cookies, including Thin Mints and Peanut Butter Patties, with some even preferring the cheaper Aldi alternatives.
  • “They may look a bit different, but taste damn near identical. Girl Scouts need to up their game. If Aldi can dupe the thin mints, I can tell my coworker's daughter to get lost!” one person wrote of the Samoas dupes.
  • Some Girl Scouts fans expressed frustration, stating they “hate when retailers try to cash in on the Girl Scouts’ market” due to the impact on the organization.
  • “When you buy Girl Scout Cookies, you’re getting more than just a delicious treat: you’re helping to power experiences that help girls learn, grow and thrive,” a spokesperson for Girl Scouts said last month.
