Aldi is bringing the egg chair trend back for another spring/summer season after shoppers cleared the shelves last year. The supermarket chain announced the new product on Instagram yesterday (March 19) and hundreds of excited fans have already reacted.
Although the fashion for egg-shaped chairs can be traced back to the 1950s, it has experienced a resurgence in the past few years thanks to the hanging design popular for garden and patio furniture. Aldi's latest take on the trend is an online exclusive and will not be available in store, priced at just under £200.
It's expecting them to be so popular that there will be a limit on how many can be bought per customer, with people only able to add two of them into their basket. The chairs come with a three-year guarantee and can hold a maximum weight of up to 120kg.

The chain shared a photo on social media, writing: "Cosy up in your Egg Chair rain or shine this Spring as styled by @pinkpigeon_home and @home_withgem Available to preorder online now!" In a comment to a fan it confirmed that the price is £199.99.
One shopper commented: "Bought 2 last year plus the double. Have been out all year (minus cushions!) with no covers & are still great. Obviously, a little rust where the bolts are but you'd expect that! Have just put lights on the 2 singles. Great value."
Another added: "I finally bought one last year and love it!" "Finally!!! It's taken me years, and I've got one!!" announced a third.
However, a fourth shopper said they purchased two Aldi sets and "both have rusted", saying they were "disappointed". Aldi replied with an apology and invited them to send a direct message to investigate.
The product description states: "The Hanging Egg Chair & Cover by Gardenline is the ideal way to relax in style and comfort. Perfect for the patio or conservatory, this comfortable rattan effect hanging chair will be your seat of choice.
"The included cover helps to protect your chair against any unexpected harsher weather. Pour yourself an ice-cold drink, grab a good book and enjoy the warmer weather and brighter evenings to come."
Pre-orders are being taken for a dispatch date of March 23. Anyone who misses out can find a couple other of alternatives currently being sold by homeware retailers, for a similar price.
Dunelm is selling its 'Singapore hanging egg chair' for £249 while the Range is selling a 'Black Swing Egg Pod Chair' also at £249. The Range offers free delivery with the product while Dunelm shoppers can click and collect for free.
