BAREILLY: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her father in Nakhasa area of Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district on Thursday night.
According to police, the 32-year-old accused, who worked as a labourer, was under the influence of alcohol when he committed the crime while other family members were out for work. Later, when his wife returned home and learnt the truth, he thrashed her and forced her to leave the house. Thereafter, she approached police and lodged a complaint against her husband. The accused was arrested on Friday and sent to jail.
Additional SP Srish Chandra said, “After receiving a complaint, we had registered an FIR under the sections of rape and the Pocso Act against the accused father. He was on a run but our teams managed to nab him. We have sent the girl for medical examination and her statement will be recorded before a magistrate soon.”
