Scotland recorded the highest number of alcohol-related deaths in thirteen years during the covid pandemic.
New figures showed 1,245 people died last year, prompting calls for urgent action to tackle the country’s problematic relationship with booze.
Labour MSP Monica Lennon, who lost her dad to alcohol abuse, said: "The loss of a loved one to alcohol-related harm is difficult to bear. So many traumas and what-ifs to carry on top of the grief. "
