Albion Rovers boss Brian Reid feels his side still need a couple of new signings to be fully ready for the League Two campaign kicking off next weekend.
The Cliftonhill outfit play their final match before league business tonight when they travel to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Premier Sports Cup, and they will then be idle until a visit to Stenhousemuir on July 30 in their opening League Two fixture.
That short break is a welcome one for Reid and he hopes to use the time wisely to bring in more fresh faces, with the club looking a touch light in central defence and up front.
He said: “I think we need a couple of more players in.
“James McGowan is going to Australia at the end of next month so that will leave us short at centre-half.
“He has only signed a short-term deal to help us out and to help him keep ticking over.
“In terms of strikers we’ve only got Michael Paton and Kieran Dolan at the moment because Max Wright is injured, so we will need another one to boost the squad.
“We’ve had the bonus this season that we managed to bring in the likes of Barry Duncan from the reserve squad and he is a good prospect for us, but we’d like a couple more, whether that be loans or whatever.
“I’ve just got my fingers crossed we don’t get anywhere near the bad luck we had in terms of injuries because I’ve never seen anything like what we had last season.”
