Alan Titchmarsh has spoken out about gardeners being “demonised” by water companies during the drought that plagued the UK this summer.

The gardening legend - who recently downsized to a home with a smaller garden - revealed he was using watering cans to keep his plants alive during the hosepipe bans that came in to combat relentless heatwaves.
