Alan Shearer has perfectly summed up the feeling among Newcastle United supporters after VAR ruled out an early second-half opener. The Magpies fanbase thought they had the lead through a Tyrick Mitchell own goal, but Michael Salisbury was told to go to the monitor.
Sven Botman's header at the back post was turned back across goal, with Willock seemingly pushed in the back colliding with Guaita, and Tyrick Mitchell turning the ball into his own net. Newcastle supporters were quick to point out the push on Willock, but VAR ruled the goal out.
Shearer was among the Newcastle supporters to express their discontent on social media. Responding to a tweet asking if it was the correct decision, the Magpies legend said: "No. Willock clearly pushed into the keeper. Pathetic decision."
