Following the win, the Premier League record goalscorer picked out three United players to make his team of the week, as Shearer heaped praise on the Reds after Sunday's victory.
Lisandro Martinez had the tough task of keeping the in-form Gabriel Jesus quiet, but that's exactly what he managed to do. Despite some early testing moments, the Argentine defender settled in to the match and helped break the Arsenal lines with his distribution.
Shearer was clearly impressed with the 24-year-old's performance, naming him in his team of the week as he said: “Solid at the back. He has helped to transform Manchester United’s defence.”
In midfield, Eriksen put in arguably his best performance in a United shirt as his brilliant pass took out a handful of Arsenal players for Antony's opening goal. Of Eriksen, Shearer said: “Produced a passing masterclass. What a signing he has been!”
Eriksen did manage to get an assist to his name for United's last goal as he selflessly squared the ball to Rashford for the simplest of tap-ins. The United striker rounded off the trio of Reds to feature in Shearer's selection, after impressing with his display against Arsenal.
The ex-England international said: “He has been much better lately and underlined the improvement with two goals and an assist against the leaders."
