Tam Courts has admitted Dundee United are yet to offer a deal to any upcoming free agents including Livingston winger Alan Forrest.
Last month Record Sport told you the Terrors were looking to bring the 25-year-old to Tannadice next season.
United have made contact with Livi to make their interest known.
But there is no offer on the table and nor has anyone from the club met with Forrest, who is also a target for Robbie Neilson and Hearts.
Head coach Courts admitted that United will start to step up their summer plans now they are in the top six and are now pushing for Europe.
Courts stated: “The one thing I can say, having left a recruitment meeting on Tuesday, is that we haven’t made any formal pre-contract offers to any players.
“There will be players who are of interest and we will be speaking to agents and representatives.
“Because we have a little bit more of a lead-in time, we are being proactive with our recruitment.”
United face a big match, in terms of the European fight, this weekend when they entertain Motherwell.
The Steelmen are just one point behind with them Ross County and United slugging it out for the two European places. Courts’ side have come in for criticism for not being able to hold leads. The boss is adamant that he and his coaching team are not putting the reins on their team.
Courts explained: “We are starting games very well, getting our noses in front and have proved we can get in front.
“It is certainly not an instruction from the coaching team for us to be passive or sit on a lead.
“We want this team to play with a fearlessness and go after the second and third goal. That’s the team we are when we’re at our best.
“The key thing for me is recognising that we are a team that starts games really well, we have an ability to get our noses in front.
“It’s the next part where we are trying to help the players understand what needs to happen, in terms of game management and staying on the front-foot.
“It’s important to make good decisions on the ball, which helps the team build rhythm and confidence.”
United had found goals hard to come by earlier in the season but in recents weeks they have had more of a cutting edge, although the pay-off from that is they have conceded more going the other way.
Courts confirmed: “Over the last three or four weeks, we’ve really focused on how we can get this team scoring goals and creating chances.
“Before that, the stats would tell you we weren’t creating an abundance of chances, albeit the chances we do create tend to be good ones.
“Over the last couple of games, it’s nice to be scoring.
“This week, it’s about focusing on the full package and getting back to a team that prioritises clean sheets, defends its own box well and can also score goals at the other end.”
