Alan Carr and Amanda Holden TV show ‘helps drive Corfu searches on Rightmove’

Rightmove said home hunters ‘flock to see properties for sale in locations they’ve seen on TV or in films’ (James Manning/PA) - (PA Archive)

Corfu was the most searched for overseas destination on Rightmove in January, as people tuned into the BBC TV series Amanda & Alan’s Greek Job.

Rightmove said that searches for Corfu jumped by 173% in January, compared with the same period a year earlier.

Corfu overtook hotspots such as Dubai, the Costa Del Sol and the Algarve to claim the top spot in January.

The BBC series sees close friends Amanda Holden and Alan Carr roll up their sleeves for their latest renovation project.

The restored property can be viewed on Rightmove’s website.

Rightmove said it recorded a similar trend previously for searches in Spain, which it put down to the popularity of Amanda & Alan’s Spanish Job.

Comedian Carr recently won The Celebrity Traitors, in a dramatic finale.

Colleen Babcock, a property expert at Rightmove, said: “Time and again we see curious home hunters flock to see properties for sale in locations they’ve seen on TV or in films.”
