Alan Brazil whips up Rangers penalty conspiracy call as Ally McCoist names precise spot-kick time for Celtic showdown

Alan Brazil light-heartedly whipped up the Rangers penalty conspiracy theory as he invited Ally McCoist to select the exact time Nick Walsh will point to the spot at Hampden on Sunday.

And it didn’t taken long for Neil Lennon to weigh in he’s jokingly wagering on his former rivals getting a penalty AND Celtic receiving a red card. The trio enjoyed some banter ahead of the Viaplay Cup final on Sunday, a far cry from former dug-out rivals McCoist and Lennon famously clashing in a powderkeg Parkhead derby clash more than a decade ago but are out of the firing line now and were able to enjoy a verbal joust on the airwaves, with Celtic-mad talkSPORT host Alan Brazil happy to whip it up.

Brazil jokingly asked McCoist: “What time do you get the penalty, do I go first half or second half?” McCoist responded: “No it’s later this cup final. (James) Tavernier nets his penalty in the 74th minute.”

Brazil: “Lenny, what do we do with these refs?” And Lennon replied: “I would do a double. Penalty for Rangers and a red card for Celtic. I’d be all over that.”

On the actual game, McCoist said: “I don’t know whether you agree or not but the results have absolutely improved. The performances have improved to a degree but there’s been one or two games where the best thing you can say is they might not have won them four or five months ago.

“I think in the Old Firm anything can happen but the gap has closed a little. I was at the last game at Ibrox which was a good game. Celtic started well and then Rangers were very good second half and Celtic got the late equaliser. I think it will be very close, I really do.”
