Alan Brazil revealed that he got into a fight with a patient in hospital as he returned to TalkSport for the first time on Wednesday (4 August) after having a life-saving operation.
The radio presenter, 67, had been absent from the airwaves for several weeks while recovering from surgery.
Praising the “amazing” staff who cared for him, Brazil told co-host Gabriel Agbonlahor: “It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, the NHS, but there are too many bodies down there that need looking after.
“You get some real idiots in there, you know, patients... They think it's their own hospital. You know, ‘nurse, nurse, nurse’ ... I nearly had a fight. I was gonna knock someone out.”
