Lucknow: Days after the Supreme Court pronounced a landmark judgement on senior journalist Manoj Tibrewal Aakash's plea against the illegal demolition by bulldozer of his ancestral house in Maharajganj in September 2019, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday slammed the Uttar Pradesh government and said it was "very embarrassing" for the government that the Apex Court had imposed a hefty fine on it for the bulldozer action.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav said, "It is very embarrassing for the government. This is the first time in the country that the Supreme Court has imposed a fine of Rs 25 lakh on the Uttar Pradesh government over its bulldozer action."
