Akayleb Evans indicates he is “all good” after leaving practice

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Akayleb Evans left practice today during a joint practice with the Tennessee Titans, prompting some concern about another head injury.

Evans got into a brutal collision with safety Josh Metellus while defending a pass towards the end of practice. Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling reported that Evans tried to go back into the huddle, but head coach Kevin O’Connell “walked out on the field to take him out.”

Even after the incident, it seems that Evans is in good spirits. On X, the social media application formerly known as Twitter, Evans posted that he is “all good” and referenced that his new helmet got battle tested.

With the recent injury to Mekhi Blackmon and the constant fear of injury from Andrew Booth, the cornerback room is a huge question mark going into the season. Hearing that Evans is healthy and available for week one is a good sign. But this is another indication of how fragile this cornerback room is and how much uncertainty surrounds the future of the position.
