The Green Bay Packers reportedly boosted their depth behind newly acquired running back Josh Jacobs.
Green Bay used a four-year qualifying offer to sign veteran AJ Dillon, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Thursday.
A four-year qualifying contract can be offered to a player with at least four credited seasons who has been on the same team for at least four consecutive, uninterrupted league years.
In 2023, the four-year qualifying contract was a one-year deal with a base salary of $1.35 million but was set to increase this offseason.
Selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft, Dillon has registered 2,428 rushing yards, 763 receiving yards and 18 total touchdowns over his first four NFL seasons.
Last season, Dillon appeared in 15 games and averaged a career-worst 3.4 yards per carry, tallying 613 rushing yards on 178 attempts.
Dillon will be paired with Jacobs in the Packers’ backfield after the former Las Vegas Raiders star agreed to sign a four-year deal with Green Bay on Monday.
Aaron Jones, Dillon’s running mate in the backfield since he entered the league, is now with the rival Minnesota Vikings after he agreed to a one-year contract shortly after Packers released him.
