Philadelphia Eagles star AJ Brown has been slapped with a $10,609 (£9,325) fine for unsportsmanlike conduct when completing his hat-trick of touchdowns against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Brown scored three touchdowns against the Steelers and received for 159 yards as the Eagles won 35-13 last week, and they've extended their unbeaten start to 8-0 after beating the Houston Texans on Thursday. It's all going right for Brown and the Eagles, who have made their first ever 8-0 start in franchise history.
However, Brown was fined after pointing at two defenders that failed to stop him, although it's a minimal penalty for a statement game from the wide receiver. Brown has since joked about the fine on Twitter, as nothing is affecting the mood in Philadelphia.
Two defenders were unsuccessful in blocking Brown in the endzone last week when the receiver completed his hat-trick, and the defensive line couldn't contain him all game. A hyped up Brown proceeded to point at the defensive stars when recording another six points for the Eagles, and it sparked outrage amongst the opposition.
The NFL have now responded to the incident and fined Brown, with the receiver making light of the incident on Twitter. "My two little finger points the other day cost me 5k a piece," Brown posted.
"I will keep my hands, feet, and other objects to myself from now on lol," he added. Brown cannot be stopped, and with six touchdowns already this season, he's on course to have a fantastic campaign.
Five touchdowns have fallen within the last three matches, as Brown is one of the most in form receivers across the entirety of the NFL. And just like Cooper Kupp last year for the LA Rams, it looks as though he could inspire success in the post-season at this rate.
The Eagles are the only unbeaten side left in the NFL, extending their 100 percent start to 8-0 on Thursday. And they're heavily backed to at least prolong that run to 10-0 with games against the Washington Commanders and the Indianapolis Colts upcoming.
Their next major test could be against the Green Bay Packers on November 28, but the Wisconsin side are currently 3-5, and suffering a nightmare season thus far. After a strong start, the Packers have lost their last four matches - a first for head coach Matt LeFleur.
And they didn't make any major moves before the trade deadline either, even though Packers fans are crying out for more options on their offensive line. They are struggling in the wake of Davante Adams' departure, and Aaron Rodgers looks stripped of options downfield.
But that's music to the ears of the Eagles, who are stomping the NFC East at this moment in time. They are followed closely by the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys, who will all still face each other this season.
The Cowboys and the Giants are both enjoying fantastic years, with both sides sitting pretty at 6-2. It's a closely matched division, with even the Commanders surprising a few in recent weeks after winning their last three matches.
